The Eagles

The Eagles Bio

Formed in Los Angeles in 1971, the Eagles became one of the most commercially successful American rock bands of the 1970s, defining the California country-rock sound. Originally composed of Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon, and Randy Meisner—who initially worked as Linda Ronstadt's backing band—they soon signed with Asylum Records. Their self-titled 1972 debut featured hits like "Take It Easy," establishing a signature blend of folk, country, and hard rock harmonies. The band evolved through significant lineup changes, adding guitarist Don Felder in 1974, and later Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit, who brought a harder rock edge. The 1976 masterpiece Hotel California solidified their global superstar status, becoming one of the best-selling albums of all time. Despite immense success, internal tensions led to a breakup in 1980. The group famously reunited in 1994 for a highly successful tour, spawning the Hell Freezes Over album. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, they continued to tour for decades. Following Glenn Frey's passing in 2016, the band continued with new members, including Vince Gill, embarking on a "final" tour in 2023.

The organization has distributed over $3.3 million to groups serving returning servicemen and women. Community Aid and Donations The band has recently engaged in large-scale philanthropy, including a $2.5 million donation to the FireAid benefit concert for Los Angeles wildfire victims.
