Josh Groban Bio
Josh Groban is a globally acclaimed American singer, songwriter, actor, and producer, renowned for his rich, baritone-tenor voice and a distinctive blend of classical crossover, pop, and musical theatre. Born in Los Angeles, California, Groban initially pursued acting but discovered his singing talent during his teens while attending the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. His breakthrough came in 1998 at age 17 when famed producer David Foster hired him to rehearse a duet with Celine Dion at the Grammy Awards. This opportunity led to high-profile performances, including at the 2002 Winter Olympics and a spot on Ally McBeal, which launched his career. Groban’s self-titled debut album, released in 2001, achieved multi-platinum status, setting the stage for a highly successful career defined by emotional, romantic ballads. Throughout his career, Groban has sold over 25 million records worldwide, with notable albums including Closer (2003), Noel (2007), and Bridges (2018). He has appeared in films such as Crazy, Stupid, Love and television series like The Office. In 2016, he made his Broadway debut in Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, earning a Tony nomination. He returned to Broadway in 2023 to star in the revival of Sweeney Todd.
Josh Groban Charity Interest
Singer, songwriter, and actor Josh Groban has leveraged his global success to foster a lifelong dedication to philanthropy, primarily focused on arts education. In 2011, he launched the Find Your Light Foundation (FYLF), which works to ensure that every student has access to high-quality arts education through direct support, advocacy, and outreach. Inspired by his own experiences with school arts programs, which he credits with helping him overcome childhood anxiety and self-doubt, Groban established the foundation to "pay it forward". The FYLF focuses on funding programs across the United States that foster creativity, self-expression, and resilience in K-12 youth. Over the past two decades, the organization has reached over one million children and supported arts initiatives in 37 states, including youth symphony orchestras, children's choirs, and theater programs. Groban’s philanthropic efforts are deeply hands-on; he often collaborates with fans to fundraise and brings awareness to the cause during his concert tours by inviting local arts education leaders to be recognized. In 2025 alone, the FYLF awarded over $1.25 million to 189 nonprofit organizations. In addition to arts education, Groban has supported various other causes, including disaster relief efforts, such as the Music Rising National Disaster Relief Fund, and organizations like the Academy of Music for the Blind. He has also worked as an ambassador for Nelson Mandela’s 46664 organization. Through the Find Your Light Foundation, which is governed by an all-family board of directors, Groban continues to advocate for the vital role of arts in building empathy and humanity in future generations.
