John Mulaney Bio
John Mulaney is a critically acclaimed American stand-up comedian, actor, and writer, widely regarded for his precise, narrative-driven storytelling. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he began his comedy career after graduating from Georgetown University, eventually landing a role as a writer for Saturday Night Live (SNL) in 2008. During his six-season tenure at SNL, he co-created the iconic character "Stefon" with Bill Hader. Mulaney solidified his reputation as a master of observational humor through several Netflix specials, including New in Town (2012), The Comeback Kid (2015), and the Emmy-winning Kid Gorgeous at Radio City (2018). His style is known for combining a sharp, cynical wit with a clean-cut, unassuming persona, frequently focusing on his childhood, pop culture obsession, and self-deprecating tales of personal shortcomings. Following a highly publicized period of personal struggles, including addiction and rehab in 2020, Mulaney returned to the stage with a more vulnerable and dark tone in Baby J (2023), which explored his intervention and recovery. In addition to stand-up, Mulaney has worked in voice acting (notably as Spider-Ham in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) and co-created the Broadway show Oh, Hello with Nick Kroll. He has also expanded into live hosting with the Netflix series Everybody's in L.A. (2024). Mulaney is recognized for elevating conversational storytelling into a meticulously crafted art form.
