Foo Fighters

Foo Fighters were founded in 1994 by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl in Seattle, following the death of Kurt Cobain and the dissolution of Nirvana. Initially conceived as a one-man project, Grohl recorded the self-titled 1995 debut album entirely by himself, playing every instrument. After the album's success, Grohl quickly formed a full band to tour, recruiting bassist Nate Mendel, drummer William Goldsmith, and former Nirvana touring guitarist Pat Smear. They have consistently supported organizations focused on the welfare of musicians, such as MusiCares and Music Support, particularly following the passing of Taylor Hawkins. The two massive, globally broadcast Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concerts raised substantial funds for these causes. Frontman Dave Grohl is also personally known for his extensive, low-key community work, notably dedicating time to feed the homeless and food-insecure in Los Angeles, often using his personal barbecue skills to prepare meals for thousands through organizations like Hope The Mission. The band often releases music for charity, such as the Are Playing Where?? Vol. 1 EP, with proceeds benefiting local organizations.
