Demi Lovato Bio
Demetria Devonne Lovato was born on August 20, 1992, in New Mexico and was raised in Dallas, Texas. She is the daughter of a former cheerleader and a musician/engineer. She began her career as a child actress on the TV series Barney & Friends. Her breakout role came in 2008 as Mitchie Torres in the Disney Channel movie Camp Rock, which launched her into music stardom with her debut album, Don't Forget. Throughout her career, Lovato has been remarkably open about her personal struggles, including battles with mental health issues, such as her diagnosis of bipolar disorder, bulimia, and self-harm, beginning in her youth. These challenges have been addressed in several documentaries, including Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated and Dancing with the Devil. Lovato is a prominent philanthropist and activist, leveraging her platform to champion several causes, most notably mental health awareness and anti-bullying efforts. She is the spokesperson for the "Be Vocal: Speak Up for Mental Health" initiative, which encourages open discussion about mental health conditions and advocates for better access to treatment. In honor of her father, who also struggled with mental health, she founded the Lovato Treatment Scholarship Program to help others coping with mental illness and addiction. She has also been a vocal advocate for the LGBTQ+ community and has been honored with a GLAAD Vanguard Award.

Demi Lovato's career began in childhood, appearing on Barney & Friends, before achieving breakthrough fame as Mitchie Torres in the 2008 Disney Channel film Camp Rock. Her debut single, the duet "This is Me," was a top 10 hit, leading to her first full-length album, Don't Forget (2008). This early era, blending pop-rock sounds, was complemented by her starring role in the Disney Channel sitcom Sonny with a Chance. Throughout the 2010s, Lovato’s music evolved into polished pop and dance-pop, with albums like Demi (2013) and Confident (2015) yielding major hits such as "Heart Attack" and "Cool for the Summer." She utilized her powerful vocals on soaring ballads like "Skyscraper" and the soulful single "Tell Me You Love Me" from the 2017 album of the same name. Her career also included a two-season stint as a judge on The X Factor USA. Lovato is a seasoned global touring artist. Early treks included the Demi Lovato: Live in Concert tour, and later major headlining runs such as The Neon Lights Tour and the Demi World Tour (2014-2015), which reached North America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania.
