Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley provides a temporary home-away-from-home for families of critically ill or traumatically injured children. The House opened its doors on the grounds of Maria Fareri Children's Hospital in Valhalla, N.Y. in May 2011. The House features twelve bedrooms, two kitchens, two laundry rooms, common areas, and game rooms. In addition to these amenities, we also offer home-cooked meals for our families, as well as other services to promote health and relieve stress. Families are stronger when they are together, and their presence helps a sick child heal faster and cope better. While Ronald McDonald House cannot make medicine taste better or take away painful treatments, it can help lessen the burden families shoulder when a child is in the hospital - and provide them with the stability and resources they need to get and keep their child healthy and happy. Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley has served more than 300 families since opening less than two years ago. Families who stay at the House reside throughout the Hudson Valley, as well as other states and countries. Their children suffer from many illnesses and serious injuries and are hospitalized at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, Blythedale Children's Hospital, and other nearby hospitals.
