ACDS programs deliver on our mission statement – to serve individuals with developmental disabilities throughout their lifetime. Our programs encompass three broad age categories: early childhood and preschool years, 5 years plus, and adult years.

Our school in Plainview, serving children from birth to five years of age, is our heritage program, the one with which ACDS is most closely identified.  We serve children with a diverse range of developmental disabilities including Down Syndrome, autism spectrum disorder as well as other developmental and genetic based disabilities. Our school serves about 270 children (center and home based) and we offer day care to 75 children. Our Westchester based pre-school serves more than 100 children ages 3-5 with developmental disabilities.  

Our 5Plus program enables us to continue to serve our graduates beyond the preschool years, maintaining a connection with our families, as well as other families in need of recreational and respite programs. 5Plus has a wide variety of programmatic offerings including dance and sports activities, socialization events and opportunities to engage with their peers and others in the community.

Our adult services include our Individualized Residential Alternatives (IRAs or group homes), a transitional apartment, adult Medicaid Service Coordination and an adult day rehabilitation program.  In total ACDS serves more than 1,000 people with developmental disabilities each year.
