The Brian Higgins Foundation was established in 2003 as a memorial to our late son/brother Brian and as a means of helping other children with special needs and their families. With generous support from charitable donors we have been able to help families through scholarships, paying for medical equipment that insurance will not cover, and providing assistive technology equipment, which included installing a SMARTBOARD in the Kennedy School intensive program in Somerville, Massachusetts, to help children connect with the big world around them. We continue to send children to summer camps and have given to some of the great organizations in our city including Best Buddies of Somerville High School, Somerville Youth Hockey and Challenger Little League to name a few. Most recently we purchased an Ipad and communication program for a local young adult in order for him to communicate with the world around him. But, most importantly we have brought some much-needed smiles to the faces of many children and some much-needed support and relief for their families.
