With a focus on ensuring attractive parks for our community and ensuring our parks and green spaces are accessible to all regardless of ability, age, or economic status, PATRONS helps to fill the City's parks funding and resource gap. Funding initiatives and fundraising events have resulted in PATRONS donation of over $2 million to the City of Bellaire since 2002. We currently are planning our largest annual fundraiser, Wine and Tapas. PATRONS for Bellaire Parks invite you to offer your support for the 14th Annual Wine and Tapas “Masquerade” Gala, Saturday, April 27, 2024. This year’s Masquerade theme offers a delightful escape from the ordinary, inviting guests to immerse themselves in a world of elegance, mystery, and enchantment. PATRONS invites you to support the fundraiser via donation tickets to be used in our gala auction. We currently are raising funds for a fully accessible playground to be constructed within our City. All kids are created equal with the same desire and need to experience play. Play that challenges and inspires them physically, supports and stimulates them cognitively and facilitates an emotional and social connection. A well-designed inclusive playground welcomes children and adults of all abilities to a play experience where everyone can interact and play together. Play is not only fun, but it’s also an essential part of a child’s development and critical for the successful growth of both the brain and the body. Playgrounds offer a unique opportunity to support a child's cognitive, emotional, physical and social development all why disguising it as play. The need for play does not distinguish between children who are typically developing and children with disabilities. Everyone of all abilities needs play. And everyone means not only children with a physical disability requiring an accessible playground, but it also includes developmental disabilities like autism; children with sight or hearing impairment and children with intellectual disabilities such as down syndrome. Everyone also includes siblings, parents, grandparents, friends and other caregivers. This gala is one of the most anticipated events of the year in this community, regularly attracting over 250 attendees for an evening of music and dancing, dinner and drinks, and a great auction, all in the interest of continued improvements to our neighborhood parks and green spaces for our community’s continued use and enjoyment.
