In January 2021, the series was renewed for a 10-episode second season which was released on November 24, 2021. In May 2022, the series was canceled after two seasons. The entire main cast from the original Saved by the Bell reprised their roles in the revival, except for Dustin Diamond and Dennis Haskins as Screech and Mr. Belding, respectively. The series received generally positive reviews from critics, with praises going towards the performances of Hoog and Totah.
