The Chicago Park District does not have the budget to renovate existing playgrounds. They will, however, pay one-third of the cost and manage the project for communities interested in raising the dollars themselves.
The Merryman Park playground, built in 1951, last received new equipment in 1982 and was resurfaced in asphalt and woodchips in 1990.
We aim to provide:
- A safe, up-to-date playground
- Age-appropriate equipment and resilient surfacing
- A gathering place for children of all abilities
The total cost for a new playground of this size, including demolition, site preparation, installation, and equipment is approximately $450,000.
